Island Moving Company would like to congratulate Randal S. Poirier, Financial Planner and Partner of Independence Financial Partners, on the establishment of his Doing Well by Doing Good Charitable Foundation! His long-term support of IMC and various other Newport nonprofits is very much appreciated!
Independence Financial Partners, a leading southern New England financial services firm with an office in Newport, announced this week that Poirier has established this charitable fund to support select Newport non-profits, especially those greatly impacted by COVID-19. The Doing Well by Doing Good Foundation is committed to distributing at least $100,000 to Newport charities, including IMC, over the next ten years.
Miki Ohlsen, IMC’s Co-Founder and Artistic Director, commented, “Randal is a lover of the arts and his loyal support of IMC for many years shows that. Randal has generously funded many IMC events such as School Time Matinees for the Newport Nutcracker and our Family Series Ballet, and it’s important to him to make sure children grow up with the arts around them. He has also donated to our Capital Campaign for a new Center for Dance and Education which, together with his new foundation, shows his dedication to thinking about the future of the Newport community.”
“I’m excited to formalize the philanthropy I’ve been committed to for over two decades,” said Poirier. “I enjoy using my skills to help a core group of local charities meet their goals. I also help non-profits maximize their fundraising results by helping them create customized planned charitable giving strategies for their donors. Beyond direct support, my hope is that highlighting these organizations will spotlight the fantastic work they do, while also encouraging more community support.”
