Exploring New Ways of Coming Together!
Bringing people together for a shared experience is core to our work, and the healing and transformative power of a great live dance and world-class dance education experiences are why we — & you — love what we do.
Island Moving Company’s (IMC) mission is to build the cultural, educational and economic vitality of our community through dance creation, performance and education.
Due to our current reality, the ongoing state of emergency declared by Governor Raimondo and the recent announcement to extend the closure of RI schools to April 5th, IMC has made the following changes to our programming schedule through May:
- March 28th performance of IMC Junior company has been cancelled.
- As of now, classes at the Newport Academy of Ballet (NAB) are suspended through April 5th. However, look for information on IMC’s new Climb the Walls Series! coming next week – as well as a forthcoming announcement regarding NAB streaming classes.
- April 30th – May 2nd performances of IMC’s Providence Productions of PRISMS! and Mother Goose has been cancelled.
We want to be here for you. We want to be here for our community, and our region.
But we are facing an uncertain future. Event cancellations, disruptions to class schedules, and lower ticket sales make a huge impact on our operations. As a small, but mighty, arts non-profit, which employs many staff members and artists living paycheck to paycheck, we ask that you support IMC in any way you can at this time, including with your patience and generous spirit.
The staff and board of IMC are working diligently to monitor COVID-19 developments and create a plan for the upcoming weeks and months with the safety of our community as our top priority
Please stay safe and healthy, care for one another, and we will remain in contact with you regarding program and class updates.
