Welcome to Island Moving Company’s Fall 2020 Curator’s Circle eNewsletter!

YOU are among IMC’s most dedicated friends, thought-leaders and patrons and have helped to see us through what has unquestionably been, one of the most challenging years our community has faced.

YOU’VE been with us as we moved our educational and performance content to digital and streaming platforms, and when we made a gradual return to live performance, you ventured outdoors with us for pop-up performances in Newport’s parks this summer, celebrated the premiere of our film Out Of Ruin at Cardines Field, and shared the breathtaking vistas and choreography at our fall production of eMERGE! at Blithewold.

We value your continued advocacy & participation, and consider you as a dedicated  partner in our mission to create and produce world-class dance performance & education programs, and to building a proud community that values the importance of a resident, professional dance company and its artists who call Newport home.

In the 38 years Island Moving Company has been part of Newport and the broader Rhode Island community, we have been fortunate to have gotten to know you. YOU are part of our family of dedicated patrons who recognize the transcendent power of professional dance in our community, and what it has meant to our community, especially over the past 8 months.

We were happy to see many  of you at this year’s Virtual Meeting and Luncheon on November 19 to share IMC’s recent accomplishments as well as forthcoming developments to close out 2020 AND to boldly forge ahead with new partnerships and projects in 2021 as IMC moves into its 39th year and closer to a milestone 40th anniversary year in 2022!

If nothing else, this past year has brought IMC’s commitment to serve our community into focus, as the company nimbly pivoted to explore and deliver new programs that illuminate Island Moving Company’s hallmarks of Adaptability, Innovation & Resiliency. These practices are part of IMC’s DNA and, point to our legacy of growth and sustainability since our founding in 1982.

As a member of our Curator’s Circle, we hope you enjoy this newsletter and find the accompanying articles informative and useful to your understanding of our collective work and IMC’s roadmap ahead. We also hope you will continue to share our new programing and initiatives with your networks.

We are pleased to announce the exciting news that an anonymous donor is graciously offering a challenge grant to help us close out our year! Offering to match dollar-for-dollar every lapsed, renewed, OR increased donation over existing pledges. This offer will match up to $50,000 in year-end pledges!

We hope you might consider making an additional donation before year’s end. Your new gift would qualify for our Donor’s Challenge Match and be doubled, helping to ensure that we can end a very difficult year on secure footing as we work toward a brighter future.

Our staff and board remain deeply committed to serving our community. We know we will emerge stronger, wiser and ever resolute, to shape a bright future.

We applaud your continued support and look forward to receiving your thoughts and comments.

With deep admiration,

Peter & Miki
