IMC Dancers at Newport’s Pell School

Island Moving Co. dancers have been working with Pell School’s second and third graders this month.  The third graders created dances around the themes of Perseverance, Compassion, Gratitude and Respect, while the second graders helped us pilot our new math-based curriculum.  The second grade teachers are getting movement workshops too, and they have been great!  With help from the Benefactors of the Arts Secret Garden Tour, the RI State Council on the Arts and the Frances R. Dewing Foundation.

Thanks for a Stellar 2014

Many many thanks to our wonderful donors who have helped us end 2014 on a high note.  From the foundational support of our Partners for Dance, to our generous Board to the dozens of donors who send a gift year after year, Island Moving Co. is honored to thrive through the support of our community.  See you all in our 33rd season!  Happy New Year!

Nutcracker Season ends with a Mini at Sandywoods

Island Moving Co dancers and members of the children’s cast traveled to Tiverton on Sunday, December 7th to perform a shortened version of the Nutcracker story for small people and their parents.  The show began with some audience participation and then everyone settled in to hear IMC Chair John LaRocca read the story of the Nutcracker, with performance interspersed in the narrative.  A capacity crowd turned out for this fourth mini at Sandywoods Farm, an artists community with a lovely performance hall that hosts all kinds of music and activity.  Afterwards, the cast came out to greet the audience and take some photos.
