$250,000 Challenge Match

We are excited to share that the unanimous approval by the Newport City Planning Board on September 13 was IMC’s final regulatory hurdle. Now we will plan for the closing to acquire the property while beginning the design-build phase of the project. We expect to engage our community members in this process, so please start your creative engines.

In the meantime, we are working to meet a fundraising challenge issued by a generous benefactor.
The Challenge: raise $250,000 in new gifts and pledges.
The Reward: a $250,000 match. Learn how you can help us meet this challenge!

Our generous anonymous benefactor “kicked it up a notch” by putting a deadline on the Challenge/Match. The motivation is so we can announce the fundraising success at a press conference for the closing in late October.  With that said, who might you know that should be invited to support this project? Do you know anyone that would like to help unlock at $250,000 gift? Would YOU like to help us unlock this amazing donation? Any support you might provide would be greatly appreciated!

New gifts and pledges are applicable for the Challenge. Supporters don’t need to make their gift before October 15 – just make a pledge to support the campaign.

Ways you can UNLOCK $250,000 for IMC:

  • Download a PLEDGE FORM, fill it out, and send into IMC
  • DONATE ONLINE note: pledges are not allow via this method.
  • Talk with an IMC representative by calling 401.847.4470  or 401.263.4902
  • Tell others who might be interested!

The benefits of this project are many. It will increase the number of studios, add a 180 seat flex-performance space, and enable more people to benefit from IMC performance and education programs. The community gains by developing a derelict property on Broadway, in the heart of Newport. A creative partnership between IMC, the City and a for-profit developer will turn an abandoned property into five lots that will house four single-family homes in the rear and the Center in the front abutting Broadway. The parcel will also include a neighborhood pocket-park and a dedicated bus stop. This project aligns perfectly with the City’s master plan and the unanimous approvals at the Zoning and the Planning Boards validate the alignment.
